“Who is driving the bus in your life?”

My first business coach asked me that and then told me that I was being too much of a people pleaser (so many women are) - and letting a lot of women around me make my decisions for me.

She was right.

I was pressured into doing things I didn’t want to, and I was talked out of doing things I wanted to do. In my own business that I found it and started can you imagine? These were people that worked for me on my payroll. 🤣

Flashback to another time I was working with Chevy Corvette on a campaign in Vegas (very cool let me know if you want me to send you the video) where I got to drive there new Corvette around a race track as fast as I could go which for me it was like 70 miles an hour lol…

The trainer that they had us working with to show us how to effectively use the vehicle at high-speed around a twisty attorney racetrack gave me some very interesting advice. He told me when you’re in the car at high speeds. Don’t look in the rearview mirror always direct your eyes where you want the car to go and the car will follow you.

It is our tendency naturally to look instead of up ahead where we want to go. We tend to look at the problem or the curve that is immediately right in front of us and PANIC.

When I followed his advice, I was able to manage the car effectively and be completely calm .

This is a perfect metaphor for life. So many people are not looking ahead to where they want to go. They are simply dealing with every day and the problems that land on their plate.

if you ask them what their goals are or where they want to be in a year or what their projections are for their business they probably can’t answer you. That’s not the sign of somebody who’s going to be successful.

This is what I want you to think about today. I want you to start thinking about where you’re going and I want you to focus forward instead of only focusing on the problems that land in your lap today.

You can handle the problems you always have. Focus on the future.

I’m going to say something a bit controversial….

But I call TOTAL BS on the peeps in the digital marketing space throwing down lines like….

“All you need is your iPhone and WiFi and a couple hours a day” 👉🏼👉🏼 to make serious income and build a business?

What planet 🌎 are you on?

That is misleading and anyone who reads that and says SIGN ME UP- well listen up sis- that’s like buying those diet pills they used to sell in infomercials -

The ones that would tell you, you could still eat and drink whatever you want and not have to work out, but you lose all the weight you want easily!

There aren’t any SHORTCUTS to anything worth aiming for. If you are looking for the EASY WAY UP- that says something about your character IMO— instead of wanting to LEARN LEARN LEARN -

And grow as a person in the process! Have you ever watched a documentary of any hugely successful person who said when asked “how did you do it?” They answered “oh I hired someone to do it for me”

Or

“I paid this guy for a shortcut and didn’t even have to go to law school/medical school etc”

No. Documentaries of hugely successful people are usually stories of triumph over adversity and struggle… And that’s why they are so inspiring.

Embrace the opportunity to BUILD something and to ALWAYS BE LEARNING.

Sure later on in your business you may very well work a lot less hours per day - but that’s likely because you’ll have support staff and contractors helping you.

I prefer to keep it real and let new business peeps know- get your hustle on. Be ready to work. You’ll get out of this what you put into it.
